The Challenge

Serving as a catalyst for mission-driven healthcare innovation, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (OHIL) built its VHA Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE) to leverage the collective power of innovation champions across various industries, government agencies, and like-minded organizations. However, the agency quickly recognized the inherent complexities of managing a wide-ranging and multifaceted project of this caliber. As a result, they sought the support of a strategic partner who could manage this bold initiative by bringing together diverse stakeholders and supporting the actualization of emerging healthcare solutions across the country.

RDS' Solution

RDS oversees all activities related to OHIL’s ambitious effort, including managing VA Pathfinder, a multifaceted digital portal created to connect enterprising organizations with VA’s healthcare innovation leaders. The team also supports the program’s health tech scouting needs, develops business cases and pilot programs, and forms meaningful partnerships that enable OHIL to strategically incorporate the voice of the Veteran into the healthcare innovation process. Other significant aspects of our ongoing work include:

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Resource Allocation and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Quality Assessment and User Acceptance Testing
